Target Anounces New Price Match Policy for the Holidays!

Great news! Target announced today that they will price match online retailers Amazon, BabiesRUs, Best Buy, ToysRUs and Wal-Mart. Additionally, they will match their own prices on Target.com. The price matching of identical items on the online retailers websites will only be temporary, as the price matching policy is only in effect from November 1 to December 16 (sorry last minute holiday shoppers!). Target and Wal-Mart already have price match policies for local retailers, but prior to this announcement neither matched online prices. The issue with matching local retailers has always been that it is up to each particular store to determine what is considered a "local" ad (a store 5 miles away? 10 miles away?).

For more information on Target' price match policy, click here after October 22.

This is great news, but keep in mind that even if Target matches an online price, purchasing it through an online retailer will almost always be cheaper if shipping is free and you shop through Shop at Home and Ebates, which reward you with a certain percentage of cash back on your purchase. Because of this, I often view/try on products in-store and then purchase them online to receive the cash back. NOTE: Always look at both Shop at Home and Ebates to determine which is offering a higher percentage of cash back for the particular online retailer you are purchasing from. Shop at Home will match a competitor's percentage cash back 110%. See details here. Also, if I have found something I don't need immediately, I will wait to see if the cashback amount increases (Ebates sends e-mails each day with their "Daily Double" store that has doubled its cash back for the day). Purchase with a cash back credit card or Target RedCard for even more savings!

*Please note that Shop at Home will not send you a check until you reach $20, which is why I prefer Ebates. At the end of the quarter, Ebates will send you a check regardless of how small (I know this because I have received embarassingly small checks, which is quite ironic when they send you a letter that says "here is your BIG FAT CHECK" and it is 1.74). Nonetheless, being a stay-at-home mom with no income, I'm just happy to deposit something in my account!
